Ensuring Math isn’t just a Museum Exhibit
A museum of math? It was a depressing thought, bringing to mind halls lined with slide rules in glass cases and framed scribbled equations. The last thing the United States needs, considering the challenges we face — from getting a handle on financial complexity to tracking the gigawatts and gigatons involved in the energy and climate challenge — is mathematics taught as dusty history.
